The Highs and Lows of Ohlone

Anyone that knows me, knows how much I love running.
And anyone that's had to listen to me over the past few months knows how much I love the Ohlone Wilderness 50K race and was looking forward to it.
So when I say that there were many times during Sunday's race that I actually wanted to DNF, quit running and find a new passion, you can KNOW that something was VERY WRONG!

Up, up, then up some more, little down then up

This is Ohlone Wilderness 50K

This is what tomorrow's course looks like.  Maybe this will help illustrate when I tell people the race involves less "running" and more walking uphill and screaming downhill.  When I did this race the first time, it was the first ultra I did where I realized how much walking was involved and how different that was mentally.  It is still tough to walk in races, but it is a necessary on some of these courses.

I'm feeling a little nervous. All week my legs have been aching and I can't say I feel recovered from the nagging hamstring issues.
But I am ready to go out and have a good time.  I am ready to get out in the hills and enjoy the course.  I will not get lost, so that is a plus.  And there will be twice as many aid stations as there were in the last fiasco.  I've got a hydration and replacement plan ready, shoes are cleaned up, and music is ready to play.
The family (all four of them) will be there to cheer me in so I have plenty of motivation.

Wish me luck tomorrow and look for either good results or a good story!
